One of the biggest changes I noticed in myself was the shift from seeing Physics as content to be delivered, to seeing it as a story to be experienced. This journey gave me a fresh lens to view my teaching — not just as the transmission of knowledge, but as taking students on an experience.
Udaan has been one of the most transformative experiences of my professional life. Its structured approach, emphasis on consistency, and focus on nurturing reflection set it apart from all other training programs I have attended in my career.
The masterclasses were the most refreshing part of Udaan. Each week brought in a new expert with unique insights, opening new doors of learning for me. Interacting with such esteemed guests was both motivating and humbling — it inspired me to work harder, with the hope that one day I too could inspire my students.
Udaan has given me wings! I am now able to apply these approaches in my classroom. I can identify the causes behind the ineffective learning of struggling students and address their challenges professionally, rather than offering only emotional support.
Applying Udaan learnings in my classroom has been like planting new seeds. But what matters most is this: my classroom feels alive again. Udaan was not just an internship — it was a mirror that revealed both my strengths and my blind spots.
Each session is impactful, offering meaningful insights that help teachers refine their practices, reflect deeply, and grow. It empowers educators with confidence, motivation, and innovative strategies to engage their students effectively.
Collaboration with co-interns was a fundamental aspect of the Udaan Internship, shaping my professional learning as well as my personal growth. From the very beginning, the program emphasized peer engagement as a powerful tool for reflection, experimentation, and innovation.
Udaan transformed me from a traditional instructor into an inspired, reflective educator who teaches with curiosity, compassion, and creativity. This internship has profoundly shaped my growth, both professionally and personally, influencing every aspect of my teaching and learning.
To sum up in one thought, Udaan has been both a mirror and a stepping stone. A mirror, because it showed me my old practices and how limited they were. A stepping stone, because it guided me towards becoming the kind of teacher I want to be — curious, creative, reflective, and inspiring.
As the days, weeks, and months passed, I realized that this internship was not just a program, it was a journey of self-discovery, professional growth, and personal transformation. It changed the way I look at teaching, learning, and even myself.
A unique feature was the masterclasses. They were not one-way lectures, but immersive experiences that completely changed the way I looked at my subject. That moment stayed with me: “Physics doesn’t always need sophisticated labs, it needs creativity and imagination.”
I needed to work on depth of pedagogical design. I never consciously thought about whether my activity aligned with Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle or whether the narrative of my class could be strengthened using storytelling techniques. It helped me relook at my teaching with fresh eyes.
I have transformed from being a content-deliverer to a facilitator of curiosity. I have improvised upon my old practices by slowing down, using inquiry, adding real-life relevance, encouraging collaboration, and reflecting continuously. My classroom is no longer a one-way flow of information but a space of questioning, experimenting, and joyful exploration.
I learned to be more open to new ideas and to appreciate different ways of doing things. I've realized that there's always something to learn from others, no matter their background. It has made me a more empathetic and understanding person.
After every presentation, every activity, and every discussion, we reflected on what went well and what could be better. Mentor's feedback was constructive, sometimes challenging, but always motivating. It was through this process that I learned to critically examine my teaching practices and grow in ways I hadn't imagined before.
The most foundational of these unique elements is its structure which creates an intimate and focused learning environment, a stark contrast to more generalized programs. The monthly “Culmination” day is another cornerstone of the experience. It serves as a formal platform where we get to know each other's work, and it feels less like an assessment.
